“The objective of the OTHM Level 3 Diploma in Law is to provide students with a comprehensive grounding in the legal system of England and Wales. This qualification aims to help students understand the operation and functions of the legal system, as well as some of the key laws that underpin it. Through this course, students will develop their academic skills and capabilities in the field of law, preparing them for further study or professional pursuits.

Successful completion of this qualification will equip learners with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in employment or further academic study. Learners will gain insights into various aspects of the legal system, including its structure, processes, and the roles of different legal professionals. Additionally, they will explore fundamental legal principles and concepts that are essential for understanding and navigating the legal landscape.

By the end of the qualification, students will be able to:

  • Understand the structure and functions of the legal system in England and Wales.
  • Identify and explain key laws that form the basis of the legal system.
  • Develop critical thinking and analytical skills in relation to legal issues.
  • Enhance their academic writing and research skills within the context of law.
  • Prepare for further study in law or related fields, or for entry-level employment in legal settings.”

  • Students need to be 18 years plus
  • English Language: Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) level B2, Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) 51, IELTS 4.5; Reading and Writing must be at 4.5. (Alternatively, gain an LanguageCert (ESOL) qualification from our college)
  • A student applying for a top-up program to enter the first year of university must have completed 12 years of schooling or possess relevant experience in the Legal industry.

OTHM qualifications at Level 3 represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to GCE AS/A Levels.

The OTHM Level 3 Diploma in Law qualification consists of 6 mandatory units for a combined total of 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 480 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

  • Principles of Contract Law (20 Credits)
  • Principles of Criminal Law (20 Credits)
  • Introduction to Employment Law (20 Credits)
  • Aspects of Tort Law (20 Credits)
  • Academic and Research Skills for Law (20 Credits)

Successful completion of the Level 3 Diploma in Law qualification enables learners’ direct entry into Year 1 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree or pursue Level 4 Diplomas.

As this qualification is approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), many universities acknowledge the ability of learners after studying Level 3 Diploma in Law and consider for direct entry into a range of their Bachelor’s degree programmes.

Fast track: 3-6 months (online and in person)
Standard: 6 – 11 months (online)

The qualification is delivered face-to-face, through lectures, tutorials, seminars, distance, Step In Education provides various flexible delivery methods to its learners which include blended learning, online learning, distance learning and in class. The learners can choose the mode of study as per their choice and convenience. Learners are able to interact with tutors while also interacting with the online portal where the student can see all the study notes, assignments, briefing and online material etc.
